“Drinko de Mayo” Fundraiser Supports Local After School Programs in Toms River

May 5, 2017, Toms River, NJ – American Institute’s Toms River, NJ campus celebrated Cinco de Mayo by selling nachos to raise funds for local after school programs. The event was open to students and the public, and all proceeds were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ocean County to provide juice boxes and bottled water — giving the event its name, “Drinko de Mayo.”Cinco de Mayo fundraiser at American Institute Toms River NJ “The local chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters serves over 500 children ages 5-17 in Toms River and across Ocean County,” said Campus President Tim Rodgers. “They provide community-based and school-based mentoring programs, as well as very popular after school programs.” The event raised $75, with many students coming back for seconds. “The students really enjoyed the event. They couldn’t get enough nachos!” said Mr. Rodgers. “They liked that proceeds were going to a good cause.” Drinko de Mayo is one of many fundraisers and community events that American Institute campuses take part in each year. “We are part of this community, and we want to give back and help those in need,” said Mr. Rodgers. “Events like this bring our school community closer to the community around us.”
