DISCOVER THE WORLD OF PHLEBOTOMY

Offered exclusively in the West Hartford, CT campus, the Phlebotomy Technician Program is designed to provide students an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills of skin punctures and other blood drawing methods, OSHA and Infection Control, phlebotomy procedures and know the legal importance of proper patient identification.

THE PROGRAM

Throughout the program students have hands-on laboratory experience which include a minimum of 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary or finger sticks. Upon graduation, students will be equipped with skills to draw blood from patients in hospitals, blood centers, or similar facilities for analysis or other medical purposes.

  • Professional Ethics, Legal, and Regulatory Issues
  • Infection Control
  • Safety and First Aid
  • Medical Terminology, Anatomy, and Physiology of Organ Systems
  • Capillary Blood Specimens
  • Specimen Handling, Transportation, and Processing

Successful graduates will be eligible to become Certified Phlebotomy Technicians through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
