Nursing Assistants Day: Honoring Compassion and Care Professionals in 2026

July 7, 2026, West Hartford, CT – Every 17th of June, nursing assistants are recognized for how they bring compassion, patience, and dedication to the patients and families they serve. On Nursing Assistants Day, we recognized these healthcare professionals for the meaningful role they play in supporting quality patient care and to celebrate the students preparing to follow in that path.

At American Institute, we’re proud to recognize our #AIFamily in our Nurse’s Aide program. Currently offered exclusively at our West Hartford campus, we celebrated with pizza and appreciation on the day.

Compassion Is at the Heart of Healthcare

Nursing assistants are an important part of a healthcare team. They help patients with daily care, communicate observations to nursing staff, and provide comfort and encouragement during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

It’s a role that calls for empathy and a genuine desire to help others. Tasmine G, a December 2025 graduate from the program, shared, “I have always had a passion for caring for elderly people by giving them the best care they need at all times. That’s the reason why I decided to do Nurse’s Aide, and I will continue giving the best service I can.”

Learning the Skills to Support Patient Care

American Institute’s Nurse’s Aide program is designed to provide students with the foundational education and practical skills needed to pursue entry-level nursing assistant opportunities. Through classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences, students receive instruction in areas such as:

Graduates may pursue entry-level nursing assistant opportunities in healthcare settings such as long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and other patient care environments, subject to employer requirements and applicable state regulations.
