American Institute Gives Back During Back to School Season
August 22, 2018, Toms River, NJ, Clifton, NJ, and West Hartford, CT – American Institute students, staff, and faculty welcomed the traditional ‘Back to School’ season in style this year, with on-campus carnivals in Toms River and West Hartford and a ‘Stuff the Bus’ drive to support the Boys and Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic in Clifton.
“This time of year everyone’s minds turn to the fall and we all feel that old familiar ‘pull’ of going back to school, whether we have children in school or are currently going to school ourselves or none of the above,” commented Campus President Tim Rodgers. “We’re excited to share that energy with our community and offer them a fun and exciting way to end the summer and win prizes for the growing start of school supply lists.”
Attendees at the carnivals enjoyed interactive inflatable games like the bungee run and velcro wall, in addition to traditional carnival fun like caricatures and breaking balloon games, as well as a barbecue meal.
The Clifton campus held a donation drive to support the Boys and Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic‘s annual ‘Stuff the Bus’ program, gathering school supplies for children in the local community in addition to donating $500 to help them as they work to inspire disadvantaged youth. “Many of our students come from the Paterson and Passaic areas, and see first-hand the impact of organizations like the Boys and Girls Club in helping support children in those communities. We were happy to join their efforts this year as part of our back-to-school celebration and provide them with much-needed supplies at the start of the school year,” shared Assistant Campus President / Director of Education Sherry L. Muse. “These opportunities provide our students with a way to help lift up the next generation and reinforce their role as future leaders in the local community.”
