Medical Assistants wear many hats and handle a wide range of tasks that substantially impact patient care. Often, they are the friendly faces who greet patients, take their vital signs, and make sure they feel comfortable and informed during medical visits. When it comes to keeping things running smoothly in the healthcare world, Medical Assistants are pros! They schedule appointments, manage medical records, and handle questions like true champions.
The American Association of Medical Assistants’ Medical Assistant Recognition Week, celebrated in the third week of October, is a great opportunity to show our gratitude for these sometimes unsung healthcare heroes. The 2023 theme was ‘Medical Assistants Shine Bright’ and we completely agree that they are a light we are glad to have in our lives!
During Medical Assistant Recognition Week this year, our #AIFamily came together to celebrate those who choose this career and recognize their focus on helping others. American Institute campuses chose a variety of ways to celebrate including food provided to students, faculty, and staff as they studied, custom t-shirts celebrating their ‘scrub life’, and shared motivational moments on social media. It is a privilege to know and share in the journey of these bright individuals and help them obtain the training and skills to pursue this fulfilling career path.
Next time you’re at the doctor’s office, we encourage you to thank a Medical Assistant for their hard work and dedication – you never know when your kind words might just inspire them to continue in their field, knowing that they are truly appreciated!
